James Fitzpatrick of Laguna Niguel, California became the 51st swimmer to join the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with his successful circumnavigation around Manhattan Island in New York City yesterday.
A member of the Half Century Club and Santa Barbara Channel Swimming Association, Fitzpatrick crossed the England Channel in 14 hours 32 minutes in 2005 and the Catalina Channel in 2008 in 14 hours 59 minutes to set the stage for his completion of the Triple Crown in the annual Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.
