The Body Science Great Australian Swim Series is one of the world’s open water swim series with races in Coolangatta Beach (Great Gold Coast Swim), Whitehaven Beach (Great Hamilton Island Swim), Redcliffe (Great Brisbane Swim), and Sydney (Great Sydney Swim).

In the 2.2km elite race at Coolangatta Beach on the Gold Coast on October 14th, the Grimsey brothers of Queensland went 1-2-3 while visiting Argentine professional marathon swimmer Pilar Geijo won the women’s division over New Zealand’s Cara Baker who is also training in Australia as Geijo is.

Codie wrote after his victory, “I was very happy to have three Grimsey’s on the podium. It was beautiful conditions, and the race managed to draw an amazing crowd. I can’t help feeling they were more interested in the magnificent whales leaping from the water behind us. It was a close sprint to the finish line – Three Grimsey’s literally separated on by micro-seconds in the end.

Ridge took it out fast to the first buoy, as always and we managed to dictate the pace from there. Pushing once more as we turned the final buoy ensuring it would be a Grimsey…Grimsey…Grimsey finish. We find strength in training together and are inspired by one another’s success – sibling rivalry is tested on a daily basis and there is no other rivalry quite like it. To be a professional athlete and race around the world is an amazing experience, but to be sharing this experience with my brothers is impossible to describe. I can not imagine doing anything else.”

An Inspirational Cause… A Successful Event

With the powerful cause of making waves to fight cancer, the inaugural Swim Across America Long Beach event was both inspirational and successful.

Before he came out of the water, Craig knew that a certain question had to be answered. It wasn’t a question about his middle name or anything like that. It was much more profound. It was a question posed by himself, a question that only he could answer for himself. When Craig was able to answer that question, Hank embraced him and congratulated him on finishing the 5K with dignity.
