Swim Free is a New York City-based non-profit organization with a mission to get everybody in the water, safely and comfortably.

Swim Free achieves its mission through three initiatives:

(1) it donates goggles and swimsuits to underprivileged children
(2) puts children and adults through learn-to-swim programs
(3) helps people get over their fear of the water through its Swim Free Angel program

Each summer NYC Swim hosts an open water swim series in New York Harbor ranging from 1 to 28.5 miles. As the preferred charity of NYC Swim, Swim Free raises much of its revenue to support its cause through these endurance events.

Karlee McLoughlin of Swim Free invites swimmers take advantage of Swim Free’s guaranteed entries into the 2013 Manhattan Island Relays on August 10th as soon as possible because of the popularity of the NYC Swim events.

To take advantage of unique opportunity and help those who cannot swim, interested swimmers are requested to contact Karlee McLoughli via email (here.

Photos show children wearing donated swimwear from Dolfin and Swim Free enjoying the learn-to-swim programs.

An Inspirational Cause… A Successful Event

SWIM ACROSS AMERICA, LONG BEACH
With the powerful cause of making waves to fight cancer, the inaugural Swim Across America Long Beach event was both inspirational and successful.

THE DRAMA OF THE SPORT
Before he came out of the water, Craig knew that a certain question had to be answered. It wasn’t a question about his middle name or anything like that. It was much more profound. It was a question posed by himself, a question that only he could answer for himself. When Craig was able to answer that question, Hank embraced him and congratulated him on finishing the 5K with dignity.
