Open Water Source has spent years developing an innovative global athlete ranking system. The first version of the global ranking system compiles, organizes and analyzes an incredible 135 years of marathon swimming history, from 1875 to the present. Our first phase of the global and historical athlete rankings is searchable by gender, age and country.

You can see where you rank among the world’s marathon swimmers – all of them since 1875 when Captain Matthew Webb first swam across the English Channel. Our online ranking system for marathon swimmers enables any and all athletes of any age, ability and background from any country to submit their information in order to rank themselves among the world’s marathon swimmers throughout history.

Our ranking system takes the results of the following swims and comparatively ranks each swimmer who submits their information:
