The CAP 2k Open Water Race is touted as the only downhill swimming race in Texas.
Held on April 28th in Austin, the Cap 2k is a 2000+ meter straightaway course from Red Bud Isle toward the center of downtown Austin in Lady Bird Lake. The Cap 2k was listed in Austin’s Top 75 Things To Do and the Top 10 Recreational Events in Austin, in the Top 50 Open Water Races in America, and is host to the 9th Open Water Swimming High School Championships.
Other divisions include masters, youth, first responder, and wetsuit that are all served up with a dash of homegrown unique Austin flavor, organized by the American Swimming Association.
The event is a charity swim to help bring awareness to and raise funds for Prostate Cancer and for Colin’s Hope for pre-kindergarten swim lessons in underserved communities.
