
2011 World Open Water Swimming Woman Of The Year Nominees

The award is meant to honor the individual who (1) best embody the spirit of open water swimming, (2) possesses the sense of adventure, tenacity and perseverance that open water swimmers are known for, and (3) have most positively influenced the world of open water swimming during calendar year 2011.
The 2008 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year was Edith van Dijk from the Netherlands. The 2009 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year was Poliana Okimoto from Brazil. The 2010 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year was Anne Marie Ward Ireland (shown above at the United Nations).
