Joe Bernini announced the dates for 2016 Cruce Aguas Abiertas Golfo Dulce: on September 1st and 2nd in Costa Rica.

Cruce Aguas Abiertas Golfo Dulce is a three-race open water swimming competition held in Puerto Jimenez, Golfo Dulce on the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica. The race distances include a 1.5 km and a 5 km open water swim and a 14 km marathon swim.

The warm-water, rather tranquil, and incredibly beautiful races are part of the 2015-2016 World Open Water Swimming Series and Costa Rica’s Circuito Aguas Abiertas.

Costa Rica’s Circuito Aguas Abiertas consists of five races:

The Marina Pez Velas Quepos (1.5 km and 3 km races in March), Aguas Abiertas Condovac Playa Hermosa (1.5 km and 4 km races in May), Aguas Abiertas Conchal (1.5 km and 4 km races in June), Eco Milla Los Sueños Marriott (1.85 km and 3.7 km races in August), and culminates in the Cruce Aguas Abiertas Golfo Dulce (1.5 km, 5 km and 14 km races in September).
