John Kenny raced around the world from Spain to Australia and from Canada to Japan as well as all across the United States from the East Coast to the West Coast as a professional marathon swimmer, USA Swimming representative at international and world championships, and a professional triathlete.

He took the best of those experiences and melded them into the 6-part Upper Merion Open Water Swim Series in the Schuylkill River in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania.

The dates of the introductory and competitive 800m river races, held on Tuesday nights at 7 pm, are May 10th, June 7th, June 21st, July 19th, August 9th, and September 6th.

Kenny explains, “Each series racer will receive a goody bag, a race cap, and can enjoy post-race ambiance at our barbeque social. We use the USA Triathlon guidelines for use of wetsuits. Anything below 78ºF (25.5ºC) will be wetsuit legal and above 78º will be non-wetsuit. Anyone who wishes to wear a wetsuit above 78ºF will simply compete as an unofficial racer.”
