50m, 100m, 200m, 500m, 750m and 1000m freestyle events were on tap at the Rueda Winter Swimming Polish Cup, an ice swimming event sanctioned by the International Ice Swimming Association in Januszkowice, Poland on November 15th.
The event is a precursor to the next International Ice Swimming Association World Championships to be held between January 13th – 16th 2022.
IISA Chairman Ram Barkai explained, “After many discussions and exploration, IISA Board of Directors has decided to postpone the 2021 IISA World Championships. We still have no clarity with regards to season 2020/2021 Ice Swimming events. We leave this to each country to handle according to its national situation and regulations under Covid-19.
We have decided to postpone the World Championships to January 2022 in Katowice. All things equal, we will hold the following IISA World Championships in 2023 – already in discussions – and after that in 2025.“
