30 Days Until The Midmar Mile

The 2011 aQuelle Midmar Mile will take place at the picturesque Midmar Dam in the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands on February 12th and 13th – and it is shaping up to be the largest and one of the unbelievable sporting events in the world.

At the 38th annual race, media darling Keri-Anne Payne and fellow Olympic 10K medalists Cassandra Patton and David Davies and top swimmers from Great Britain, Slovenia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Australia will take on the best South African athletes.

In addition to the mile race, race director Wayne Ridden and crew will be hosting at fast 10K race on February 10th, a 25K race on February 11th, a double-mile wetsuit race on February 12th and a 3K masters championship on February 14th. There are also 12 seeding events that help seeding the nearly 19,000 swimmers by comparing results from different events to determine the relative ability of all swimmers. This innovative system is used to allow people to swim with others of the same ability, making events safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
