An elite team of extreme cold water swimmers will attempt a 70 km relay across the Irish Sea between the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.

If there is any team of extreme adventurers ready for this crossing, it is most certainly the hardened and experienced sextet of Olive Conroy (Ireland), Conor Turner (Ireland), Elina Makïnen (Finland), Anna-Carin Nordin (Sweden), Rory Fitzgerald (Ireland), and Carole Laporte (Isle of Man).

During the test swims during May 2017, we saw our usual North Channel marine friends – Lion’s mane jellyfish, porpoise and selkies – albeit they were hovering down lower than usual due the water temperatures (10-11°C).”

Pádraig Mallon of Infinity Channel Swimming remains positive, “We are hopeful this will warm to 12-13°C. The weather is changing so may the start date.”

Currently, the start is expected to be Wednesday night as the team of six will arrive in the Isle of Man on Wednesday afternoon.
