A Star Over The Night Sea

I look west through a large open window
close to the old Harbor
at a little before midnight

I feel a slight cool wind
as it blows summer
leaves towards a loud stream

I think of dark waters and salty
ocean depths by
the cold Passage

Then I look beyond a fast moving grey cloud
to see a bright Alaskan star
far out over the night sea…

I close my eyes…
