In Tyumen, Admiral Konstantin Semyonovich Sidenko (Russian: Константин Семёнович Сиденко) accepted the 2013 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year award on behalf of all the swimmers and support personnel who participated in the Bering Strait Swim.

Admiral Sidenko is a Russian admiral of the Eastern Military District of Russia who was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Bering Strait Swim Chukotka – Alaska 2013, an unprecedented 6-day relay swim across the Bering Strait from Cape Dezhnev in Chukotka, Russia, to Cape Prince of Wales in Alaska, USA (via Big Diomede and Little Diomede Islands). The swim started at 4:24 p.m. on August 5th 2013 and finished at 4:52 p.m. on August 11th 2013.

When so much could have gone wrong, Admiral Sidenko did so much right and provided the leadership for success.

Nuala Moore of Ireland helped prepare 121 individual certificates for each one of the individuals who participated in history’s highest risk open water swim in history.
