The Fayoum Desert Open Water Swim is an adventure biathlon and open water swim and destination tour all rolled into one in Egypt’s Fayuom Magic Lake, about 180 km from Cairo.
The Masters of the Sea Egypt organize travel from Tunis (‘izbat Tunis) via 4×4 safari vehicles to Magic Lake in the morning. Then swimmers can choose between 1 km – 5 km lake swims followed by a 5 km barefoot run in the sand and a barbeque lunch.
Then the Masters of the Sea Egypt organisers drive the swimmers to the waterfalls at Wadi El Ryan and the Valley of the Whales at Wadi Al Hitan, a UNESCO site with a museum and skeletons of whales from millions of years ago.
