Aerial Clips From The 2012 Midmar Mile

When you have upwards to 18,000 swimmers participating in an open water swim over the course of a weekend, nearly half of the swimmers receive 5-digit race numbers – in itself a pretty unusual occurrence in the open water swimming world. The race numbers are also written with black marker pens on the athletes’ arms and legs, but the race numbers are printed on stickers that are used by the photographers to identify the athletes as they exit the water and head towards the onshore finish.

RC Helicam shows a bit of what the atmosphere is like at the finish of the aQuellé Midmar Mile in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa via its helicam.
