Alexandre Bermond Edges Colin Hill in the 1000m Freestyle at the Winter Swimming World Championships

In the third of four heats in the opening event at the 2023 Winter Swimming World Championships, Alexandre Bermond of France and Colin Hill of Great Britain faced on in an outstanding head-to-head race in the 1000m freestyle.

The two 50-year-olds pushed each other and ended up winning gold and silver respectively in the open water course in Lake Bled. Slovenia.

Bermond, a resident of Nice and the race director at Swimrun the Riviera Nice-Eze, has a full schedule of races at the rest of the Championships that run through January 29th: 25m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle
