Allan Do Carmo Comes Back To Take Travessia Mar Grande-Salvador

In 2012, Olympian Allan do Carmo took a risky, but ultimately a less-than-optimal course, in the 15 km Travessia Mar Grande-Salvador and was upset by his younger Brazilian competitors.

But he was not about to make the same mistake twice and won the 50th annual Travessia Mar Grande Salvador over a stellar field including American Joey Pedraza who finished second. Do Carmo and Pedraza were followed by Luis Rogerio Arapiraca, Victor Pires Simoes and Victor Colonese.

“I thought it was going to be flat, maybe a little wavey, with strong currents, but it turned out to be opposite, I didn’t expect it to be so rough. The race itself was awesome. My coach and I didn’t know how the race was going to play out. We made allot of mistakes, when I believe I could have won the race, but that’s why I came to gain experience. I loved the race, and I would love to go back,” expressed Pedraza.
