Andrea Prayer Steps Into Bigger Role

Andrea Prayer of Italy has been approved by the FINA Bureau as acting FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee Honorary Secretary to replace Flavio Bomio.

With the 2012 London Olympics qualifier in Portugal, the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim in Hyde Park, and the new World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Canada looming, Prayer steps into a very busy role.

He pulled off a magnificent set of open water races at the 2009 World Swimming Championships under very trying circumstances when the entire course was destroyed a day before the championships were to begin.

Under difficult conditions and tight deadlines, Andrea hosted a well-organized and much-appreciated competition for 152 athletes from 42 countries.
