Andrew Gemmell And Ryan Feeley Swim Fast Quietly

Andrew Gemmell, an outstanding open water swimmer who will cheer on his teammates during the Olympic 10km Marathon Swim, is trying to get on the USA Olympic (pool) Team.

Gemmell, swimming in the wake of Olympic gold medalists Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps, did a very fast 4:16 in the 400m individual medley yesterday at the USA Olympic Swim Trials. The 2009 world championship 10 km silver medalist proved he will be a force to deal with in the pool and open water for some time.

Similarly, his fellow American open water swimmer Ryan Feeley swam a fast 3:49 in the 400m freestyle to place 5th in the USA Olympic Trials. Gemmell and Feeley are just a few of the open water swimming candidates in America who will continue to blossom in the next quadrennial.

And then there is the young 14-year-old Becca Mann who cruised to a 4:41 400 individual medley in the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. She has been knocking at the door among the top American open water swimming competitions and will be a threat in both the pool and open water heading into the 2016 Rio Olympics.
