Another Bit of Old News by Pat Gallant-Charette

Pat Gallant-Charette set another record in her highly prolific career.

This time the 71-year-old retired American nurse from the state of Maine found herself in Israel swimming north to south across the Sea of Galilee swimming under the escort of the Galilee Marathon Swimming Association. She finished the 20.5 km lengthwise crossing in 8 hours 22 minutes as the oldest woman to swim the length at 71 years and 82 days.

She was extremely happy with her own pace that started at 2:52 am from Capernaum on the north shore and ended at the southern beach of Zemach. “I am totally surprised. I was aiming at a 10-hour swim. I never thought I could keep this pace.”

The escort boat pilot was Stas Schupek with her support crew with Tom Charrette and Guy Cohen as the GMSA observer.
