Courtesy of WOWSA, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. The Flowers Sea Swim is one of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims.  The beautiful venue of Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman, the hospitality of the volunteer crew, the charity events surrounding the event, the $100,000 worth of prizes and awards given out to the participants are all things that make the event unique and special. Anup Itwar from Guyana is one of the tireless volunteers who help the event run smoothly year after year. Shown together with 1-mile winner and 10 km marathon swim winner Lexie Kelly of Newport Beach, California, Anup is so well-informed of the participants and logistics of the Flowers Sea Swim and so passionate about making the operations run flawlessly that sleep is usually the last of his priorities during race week. “Anup has been the Event Coordinator of the Flowers Sea Swim for years,” says Steven Munatones.  “His planning is nearly year-round, and his attention to detail is mind-boggling.  Anup works on buoys, course set-up, tents, finish platform, timing, emergency services, catering, sound systems, awards, t-shirts, sunscreen, packet pick-up, VIP guest services, ground transportation, logistics, and every aspect of operations.  It isn’t just his job; it is his passion to make the event the best and finest possible.” For more information about the special volunteers of the Flowers Sea Swim, visit here to learn more about Dennis Ryther, Nicole Normandin, Rick Walker, Pat McCallum, Frank Flowers, Dara Flowers Burke, William Cherry, Kevin Graham, Robert Duty, Anup Itwar, Jinky Castenada, Kyra Balagot, Martin Ruben, Adrian Royston, Edward Weber, Anne Mae Roffey, Tracey Myrie, Dagmar Wojcicki, Ian Lambert, and Dale Avery.
