Be An Early Adopter Of The Global Ocean Alert System

Doug Woodring, founder of the Plastic Disclosure Project, understands that ocean protection issues has a lot to do with plastic.

Of course before it gets to the ocean, it has to come from somewhere – mainly on land via rivers, beaches and boats.” Besides the Plastic Disclosure Project that was announced at the Clinton Global Initiative to combat this problem, Doug started the Global Ocean Alert System.

The web-based platform for the Global Ocean Alert System focuses on the link between rivers and the ocean. This allows individuals around the world to report on the floating debris that flows out of the rivers into the oceans. “If we can stop it there, then it won’t get to the ocean in the first place,” explained Doug. “We have some early adopter river-keepers in about 10 countries who want to be involved in the beta phase of our project.”

If there are any other groups (non-profit, academic or other) that may be interested in the beta phase of the Global Ocean Alert System, there is a ground-floor opportunity to work with one of the world’s most innovative eco-oriented entrepreneurs with the goal to kick start the Global Ocean Alert System by September.
