Bipolar & The English Channel Is Nearly Sold Out

Julie Ridge is one of the few International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmers who is also a professional actress. She is starring in a one-woman show called BIPOLAR & THE ENGLISH CHANNEL to be held November 16th performance. The performance is nearly sold out.

Ridge swam the English Channel in 1982, became the first person to swim two consecutive laps around Manhattan in 1983, completed the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon in 1984; and set a Guinness World Record in 1985 by swimming one lap around Manhattan Island each day for five consecutive days. In 1990, she bicycled across America with her father Frank Ridge. Concurrently, she performed on Broadway in Oh! Calcutta!, is a published author, and a motivational speaker. She also earned her Masters degree in social work from Columbia University in 1994 and has been a foster and adoptive parent to special needs children. She now is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and facilitates learning seminars for mental health care professionals, serving children, adolescents and families. Julie established the Frank Ridge Memorial Foundation in 2013 in her father’s honor.

Bipolar & The English Channel is staged managed by Howard Kollins and Janet Friedman. Kolins has a long career producing and managing special events including Tina Brown’s Women in the World Summits, Glamour Women of the Year, NBC’s The Sound of Music Live with Carrie Underwood, two Super Bowl Half Times Shows, the Grammy Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, Discovery Communication’s Upfront presentations and ten seasons on the Tony Awards. For over a decade, he was the Executive Producer for The Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City as well as 17 locations across North America and Mexico City.

Friedman’s made her Broadway debut in 1983 on the original David Merrick production of 42nd Street. Broadway credits include Urinetown, Sunset Boulevard, She Loves Me, City of Angels, and M Butterfly.  She worked for five years on The Radio City Christmas Spectacular and stage managed numerous special events including the ground-breaking ceremony for the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.
