Martínez and Carlos de la Madrid are organizing the 2-day Boca Laguna Swim & Run Fest in a 750m-long private lake where the annual WOWSA Awards will be held. Originally scheduled for May 9th – 10th 2020, the date of the 1.5 km, 3 km and 7.5 km races may be changed to February 2021 when the water is expected to be 17-18°C. Edna Llorens is an accomplished Mexican pool and open water swimmer who was part of the Mexican American Unity Swim held in Lake Powell that swam 200 km in 55 hours, 20 minutes in 2010. She organizes Por Ellas, a charity swim in Pichilingue, La Paz that raises money to help prevent cancer in Mexico. The event has 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and 35 km solo and relay races and is scheduled for October 2020 in Baja California.
Argüelles will speak at the event that had 538 swimmers last year where swimmers saw whale sharks and dolphins in the Sea of Cortez’s 26-27°C water. For more information about Por Ellas Mexico, visit here.
Villasante has organized the Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit since 2011 in Puerto Vallarta along the Mexican Riviera on the western coast of Mexico. The 500m and 1.75 km races are always sold out at the maximum limit of 800 swimmers. There are direct flights to Puerto Vallarta from airports in the UK, Canada and the USA. Rafael Hernández is a race director of 10 km El Cruce (Por La Libre Cancún to Isla Mujeres) event. One of the 101 Movers And Shakers In The Open Water Swimming World, Hernández has long promoted open water swimming in Mexico. Today, he met with government authorities to investigate and determine what is best and most prudent for race directors going forward. The 3.8 km and 10 km races held in Cancún and Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo, México. At this time, El Cruce will be held in early September 2020. For more information on El Cruce, visit here.
Torres has organized the Maratón Acuático Ruta del Arrecife for years. His 1.25 km, 2.5 km and 5 km races are held in Puerto Morelos, Cancún, and Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo, Mexico on the Yucatán Peninsula.
