Bruce Gordon Will Have A Whale Of A Time In Molokai

Bruce Gordon Will Have A Whale Of A Time In Molokai

49-year-old Bruce Gordon of Denver has a window of opportunity to cross the 26-mile Molokai Channel between the islands of Oahu and Molokai in Hawaii.

Bruce plans on a five-day holding period beginning October 22nd, depending on the elements, weather and tides. While the logistics and navigation may be difficult, his goals are simple: walk into the ocean, swim 26 miles and walk out on the other side.

While whales, sharks and all the marine elements that the Molokai Channel can throw at a swimmer, Bruce has had to make due living high up in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Instead of training at sea level in a tropical setting, Bruce prepares by swimming thousands of laps in a pool and has been visualizing his success since the age of 12.

But Bruce has tropical roots, growing up on the island of Oahu, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, occasionally staring across the channel towards Molokai. His dream since the age of 12 is to swim across the Molokai Channel.

His swim will benefit the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that helps military families to stay close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. His charity effort is supported and sponsored by Life Shotz, a natural nutrition drink made by 21TEN.
