Caleb Hughes Wins Great North Swim

Caleb Hughes is swimming up the ranks.

At last year’s Great North Swim in Windermere, England, he placed fifth. The 2013 European Junior Open Water Championships 5 km silver medalist is now swimming with the big boys. Today, he beat three-time winner Tom Allen and Ireland’s Chris Bryan, both hardened veterans of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming Grand Prix circuit.

Coach Mark Perry had identified Hughes’ potential years ago and included him as part of “a medal-focused group who we believe have the potential to make the team for Rio 2016 and beyond.”
