Captain Tim Johnson On Swimming In The Stream

Captain Tim Johnson On Swimming In The Stream

At the 2011 Global Open Water Swimming Conference in New York City on June 17th – 19th, Captain Tim Johnson, author of The History of Open-Water Marathon Swimming and an International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame inductee, will give a technical presentation on navigational issues faced by open water swimmers. He will cover the basics of currents, tides and winds, and how escort boat crews and swimmers can use these natural elements to their advantage. It is a scientifically-oriented presentation, but with practical examples and lessons for all open water swimmers. He will provide advice that can take minutes and, sometimes hours, off of swims depending on the conditions.
