Cecilia Biagioli Is Awarded The Olimpia De Plata

ARGENTINA. Cecilia Biagioli of Argentina was awarded the Cóndor de Oro by the Clarín newspaper and the Olimpia de Plata by the Círculo de Periodismo Deportivo (Circle of Sports Journalism). She was recognized for her exploits in 2011 when she won the gold medal at the Pan American Games 10K marathon swim in Mexico, qualified for the Olympic Marathon Swimming 10km with a fifth place finish at the World Swimming Championships.

We all dream of being an Olympic medalist, but to finish among the top five at the last World Championships is already an achievement,” said the soft-spoken four-time Olympian. “I cannot relax as I return to double workouts. 2012 will be one very important year and I have to train so I can keep on improving and have good results in the next World Cup races in Brazil and Argentina, and especially in the Olympic Games.”

She is trained by her brother, Claudio Biagioli. “2011 overcame my expectations. I always train with the same idea of getting better. The results happened based on my training under Claudio.”
