He won both events and was named the Samsung MVP of the entire competition, giving a big boost to open water swimming in the region.
As the organizers explained, “Marathon swimming is one of the most grueling events in the Asian Beach Games. Endurance swimmers compete over an open water course and the sport promises to live up to its name with the shores of Oman providing a challenge for these unique athletes.”
With Beach Games being held from South America to Oman, it is great to see a celebration of marine sports with open water swimming playing a part.
