Chilling Feats of Endurance: Top Performers at the Woerthersee Swim Ice Event in Austria
The Woerthersee Swim Ice event in Krumpendorf, Austria brought together a passionate community of ice swimmers, both local Carinthians and international professionals, who share a love for swimming in water no warmer than five degrees. With Lake Wörthersee being one of the warmest alpine lakes, the event provided a rare opportunity for swimmers to push themselves to the limits in icy conditions.

The event on February 17-18 2023, which is becoming increasingly popular and international, is just one example of the growing ice swimming community. Swimmers from as far as Ireland traveled to Krumpendorf to compete in long-distance swims in the chilly waters of Lake Wörthersee.
The 36 participants participated in the event with water temperatures at barely 5 degrees. Ger Kennedy was the official observer representing IISA.
