Chloë McCardel Goes For “A Little Dip” And Makes History as “Queen of the English Channel” With 44th Crossing

Chloë McCardel completed her 44th crossing of the English Channel from England to France today to capture the title Queen of the Channel, previously held by Alison Streeter MBE.

Kevin Murphy, with 34 English Channel crossings in his career, is fond of saying before he heads off to another long channel swim, “I am going for a little dip.”

McCardel told the BBC before she went for her little dip, “I think sometimes women don’t get recognized for their achievements as much as they should. To have female role models has been amazing for me and I really hope I can be that for other women and girls.”

There will be no lack of global recognition for her achievement on this day.

And seemingly so did McCardel today for her 44th 33.5 km career crossing of the Channel.

Photos of her after her finish were clear that it was a routine swim despite battling a chest infection.

Her skin looked fresh without goggle marks around her eyes. Her smile was wide and she was talkative after achieving a long-head dream and swimming for 10 hours to swim from England to Pointe de la Courte Dune near Calais in France.
