Circle Patterns Among Swimmers

Circle Patterns Among Swimmers

When two swimmers with common ties meet, there are bound to be a lot of reminiscing.

Canadian Olympic swimmer Sean Murphy (on left) and Harvard University swimming coach Chris Morgan bumped into each other in Cambridge. Their mutual circles of friends in the swimming world and swimming experiences from Hawaii to the Olympics set off a long gregarious conversation of long-buried reminiscences, warm memories, and all kinds of nostalgia about coaches, events, and common friends.

It is that kind of camaraderie, a mindset of collegiality that swimmers carry with them for life.

Whether it is an ocean swim or a idiosyncrasy of a coach, swimmers love to tell tales of tough competitions, tough workouts, and tough teammates.
