Carl Michael was a coach at Yale University and a former Eastern collegiate diving champion who assisted the Odyssey tours of the Aegean Sea in the 1920s. He also coached Eleanor Studley , Lucy Hancock , and Eugenie Paterson across the Hellespont in 1929 and a group of 17 American college men and 1 newspaper reporter across the Hellespont in 1928.
