Hannes Vitense has been the head swimming coach at the Olympic training base in Saarbrücken, Germany for six years. He coaches a number of very good open water and pool swimmers including Andreas Waschburger and triathletes (including Steffen Justus , Anja Dittmer ) as well as five national team athletes who compete internationally for Germany. Vitense was the head coach of the German women team until 2008. He was the head coach of the Olympic Trainingsbase in Saarbrücken until 2009 and remains a coaching speaker for the national open water team as well as coach for the German national open water (in Shanghai and the World Cups).
