A California native, Olympic bronze medalist Kimberly Vandenberg specializes in both the butterfly and freestyle. She is a two-time gold medalist from the 2011 Pan American games in the 200 butterfly and the 4×200 freestyle relay, a silver medalist from the 2007 world championships in the 200 fly and a three-time national champion in the 200 fly.  Since competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she has traveled the world giving motivational talks and teaching swim clinics and private lessons to international schools throughout the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe and South America. She continues to swim for the New York Athletic Club and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Psychology at Pepperdine University. In addition to her swim instruction, Kimberly offers Vinyasa Yoga classes designed specifically for swimmers as well as mentoring work through Rise Athletes. Kimberly is based in the Pacific Palisades, California.

Swimming Highlights

  • She swam for Campolindo High School and Orinda Aquatics.
  • She was a member of the bronze medal-winning U.S. team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
  • She won silver medals at the 2005 World University Games and at the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships in the 200-meter butterfly.
  • She won a gold medals in the 200-meter butterfly and the 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
  • She swam for the UCLA Bruins women’s swimming and diving team, becoming a 16-time All American
  • She is a three-time U.S. National Champion in the 200m butterfly and a French National Champion in the 100m butterfly.

  • She is a graduate student in Psychology at Pepperdine University

  • She is an Ambassador for Up2Us Sports, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting underserved youth by providing them with coaches trained in positive youth development.
