Morris “Mo” Matthews is one of Hawaii’s greatest swimmers and an inductee in the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame . He won 12 Waikiki Roughwater Swims and numerous national and international masters swimming championships. He was a 4-time member of the U.S. Masters Swimming All-American team and won numerous ocean swims in California. From 1980-1988 he was the swim director for the Ironman Triathlon and served as the Coordinator and race organizer for Big Island Masters Swimming and ocean swimming in Hawaii. He has been the assistant swim coach at Hawaii Preparatory Academy since 1989.
