Renato Ribeiro Barbosa is Brazilian and an expert in open water swimming.
Founder of the Navegantes Team in 2009, in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 2020 he founded BISA, Big Island Swimming Association, with challenges of 16km, 37km, 48km and the return on Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with 85km, a place declared by UNESCO as a Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
He was also one of the co-organizers, along with Adherbal de Oliveira, of the Leme ao Pontal de Swimming Association (LPSA), an open water swimming entity that governs the Traverse of Leme to Pontal Marathon of 35 km from Praia do Leme to Pontal in Brazil. The course is inspired by Brazilian music Do Leme ao Pontal.
He has experience as a trainer in the challenges promoted by the main international associations such as Channel Swimming Association, Catalina Channel Swimming Federation and Strait of Gibralter Swimming Association.
