Steve Sutton is an American open water swimmer, originally from Newport Beach, California and currently residing in Agoura Hills, California.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
He finished 9th overall in the SCAR Swim Challenge in Arizona in 18 hours 55 minutes 39 seconds on 1 May 2021.
He completed a 18.6 km circumnavigation swim around Coronado Island in San Diego in May 2021.
On 15 July 2021, he completed a 19.6 km crossing from Anacapa Island to the California mainland in the California Channel Islands in 5 hours 51 minutes.
On 21 August 2021, he participated on an English Channel relay that completed the 33.5 km crossing in 14 hours 35 minutes 13 seconds with Ryland Sutton, Andy Thomas, Steve Whitmore and Neil Chambers, escorted by Andy King and James King under the auspices of the Channel Swimming Association.
On 26-29 April 2022, he competed in the SCAR Swim, a 4-day stage swim in Arizona.
On 10 June 2022, he completed the 24 km Palos Verdes Peninsula Swim from Cabrillo Beach to Redondo Beach in 7 hours 15 minutes, escorted by his son Ryland Sutton.
On 31 July 2022, he completed the 24 km Palos Verdes Peninsula Swim course between Redondo Beach and Cabrillo Beach in 7 hours 35 minutes, escorted by his son Ryland Sutton.
On 26-29 April 2023, he will compete in the SCAR Swim Challenge, a 4-day stage swim in Arizona at the age of 56, with escort kayaker Abigail Fairman.
