Despite rain and winds, the Auckland Harbour was quite smooth and impressive to Codie, a stalwarth on the Australian ocean swim circuit, “This event was one of the best organized I have competed in. It was great to see the great amount of safety boats and boards there especially after the tragedy in Dubai.”
As the top men sorted themselves out in the beginning of the first race of the series, the pace started off quite slow in the beginning until the lead runners broke themselves up into three separate lines: Steven Kent and the largest pack took a far left course with local star Kane Radford on the far right while Codie stayed straight and went down the pipe to win over Bryn Murphy.
Race results will be posted soon at here, including the time of Cara Baker who convincingly won the women’s division as she gears up for a great 2011 season where she fully expects to qualify for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim for the 2012 London Olympics.
