Colonia’s Chilly Cruce

The Festival Swimming Río de la Plata Cruce Colonia – Buenos Aires was an international relay team of 50 swimmers from 20 countries who swam 60 km over 20 hours across the Río de la Plata between Colonia, Uruguay and Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires in Argentina where the water ranged between 10°C and 14°C water on July 18th and 19th 2015.

Although tough at times, the conditions did not stop the team. Everyone was in high spirits as we made the crossing and as the last swimmer reached the shore, he was closely followed by representatives from each country swimming with their country’s flag,” explains Karen Weir. “It was an emotional end to an amazing day. I was honoured to have been included in the selection.”
