Carina Bruwer became the first person to swim 21 km across Walker Bay in South Africa in 6 hours 36 minutes while raising money and awareness for the Tribuo Fund.

Carina Bruwer is well known for her award-winning music, her year-round charitable activities, and her record-setting swims around the world. This year, among other charity events, she pioneered a swim across Walker Bay in a charity effort to benefit the Tribuo fund and support the performing arts industry of South Africa.

Why she was nominated

For being a non-stop multi-talented bundle of energy and passion, both on dryland with her music and her instrumental pop group Sterling EQ and in the open water in swims around South Africa and Europe, and for her dedication and support for the arts industry that was hard hit during the COVID pandemic.
