About

Joseph Zemaitis embodies the spirit of open water swimming with his sense of adventure, sportsmanship, humility and community. He completed a 64.6 km two-way Catalina Channel crossing and a 133.8 km Double SCAR Swim. He also pioneered a double roundtrip Angel Island Swim and coaches nearly 600 age group swimmers at Swim Neptune while managing International Ice Swimming Association USA and the Swim FAST Foundation that prepares over 500 swimmers to swim from Alcatraz Island and across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Why he was nominated

For coaching and mentoring young people to identify and achieve their own dreams and for successfully swimming so far in various ocean swims with a steadfast commitment while training in Arizona.
