About

The 320 km Russia – Turkey International Karadeniz (Black Sea) Marathon relay faced all kinds of turbulent and wavy conditions against countercurrents. 12 swimmers rotated legs for 6 days in a swim that was documented by a television crew.

Why it was nominated

For its sheer audacity and daring to swim across the Black Sea in difficult conditions during a pandemic where the support team was as heroic as the swimmers themselves and for supporting healthcare workers and celebrating international friendship in a cross-border swim.
