Sarah Thomas (USA) – World Open Water Swimming Association

Sarah Thomas continues to add to her record-setting portfolio of marathon swims while she remains the world’s most famous channel swimmer and personable ambassador of the sport.


In February, she completed a 42 km crossing of the Molokai Channel in 12 hours 39 minutes. In May, she finished 2nd overall and was the first woman in the 4-day 66.9 km SCAR Swim in Arizona in 14 hours 43 minutes. In June, she won the 57.2 km END WET in Minnesota 13 hour 4 minutes. In September, she completed a 40.2 km crossing of Monterey Bay, California in 15 hours 39 minutes.

For continuing to be a personable and inspirational ambassador of the sport, for giving wonderful interviews to the media and being a guest on multiple podcasts, and for completing marathon swims in the ocean, lakes, rivers, and bay during 2021.
