About

Stève “Seal” Stievenart participated in a 120 km 8-person relay across Lake Baikal in Siberia in 8-12°C water in July. Then in August, he completed the 91.8 km 40 Bridges Manhattan Swim in 21 hours 15 minutes and a 37 km crossing of Loch Ness in Scotland in 14 hours 50 minutes. In September, he swam across the 35 km North Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 14 hours 44 minutes – and then he crossed the 33.5 km English Channel in 16 hours 47 minutes in 12-14°C water on November 11th, the latest crossing of the channel in history.

Why he was nominated

For traveling the globe on a moment’s notice and still being successful in some of the most difficult swims possible and for upping the bar by swimming across the most iconic body of water in the sport so late in the year in such cold water.
