When swimmers take off at the start of a mass open water swim, with arms thrashing, legs kicking, necks cranking, whitewash all around in a total sensory overload, the description needs to be colorful:

A churning cacophony of competition. Or perhaps it is a captivating clamor of camaraderie?

Whatever it is, it is certainly charming, collegial and challenging.
