Karah Nazor Friberg of the C.O.W.S. (Chattanooga Open Water Swimmers) and race director for the Swim the Suck in Chattanooga, Tennessee is looking for volunteer kayakers to assist during the 10-mile swim in the Tennessee River for swimmers who are traveling from the states of Florida, Illinois, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Arkansas, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Kayaks are provided for the volunteers who are needed to provide safety, feedings and encouragement to the swimmers. The kayaks and gear will be transported to the start for any volunteers. Of course, individuals with their own kayak and gear are also greatly welcomed.
A pre-race test run on the race course will be held on Friday, October 15th at 5 pm with a pasta dinner to follow at the Outdoor Chattanooga at 6 p.m.
The swim expects to take the swimmers between 4-6 hours.
The C.O.W.S. also offer regular open water swims on Wednesday nights in the Tennessee river at 5:45 pm followed by jazz at MST. Kayaks are provided by Outdoor Chattanooga.

Inductee in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Swimmer, Class of 2001) and Ice Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Contributor - Media, Class of 2019), recipient of the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Poseidon Award (2016), International Swimming Hall of Fame's Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award (2010).
