The Marathon Swimmers Federation announced its 2015 Global Marathon Swimming Awards.

Service to Marathon Swimming Award for the individual or group who have contributed most meaningfully to the sport of marathon swimming in a non-swimming role was given to Dan Simonelli of the U.S.A. for serving as an observer, kayaker, and crew for 27 Catalina Channel crossings in 2015, crew for one of Chloё McCardel’s English Channel crossings, coach and coordinator of youth relay swims of Catalina Channel, English Channel, and Santa Barbara Channel, coach of 2 solo Catalina Channel swimmers, Team Captain of the David Yudovin Memorial Catalina Channel Relays, President of he La Jolla Cove Swim Club, Lifetime member & voting member of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation, Voting member of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, and Founder of the Open Water Swim Academy.
