Daniel Takata Gomes Goes 3 For 3 With FINA

Daniel Takata Gomes is a statistician, professor and talented columnist and reporter of pool and open water swimming. Takata writes for and helps produce the SWIM Channel, the 2012 World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year.

On the writing side, Takata won the FINA Aquatics World Magazine international short story competition for the third year in a row.

In 2011, FINA recognized his reporting of the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China called The Greatest Show On Earth. In 2012, FINA awarded him for his reporting of the 25 qualifiers of the 2012 Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympic Games called The Magic 25. In 2013, FINA recognized his imaginary story of Johnny Weissmuller coming back to life in Barcelona in a story The Return of the King (shown above).
