Daniel, Tristan Sullivan Swim For Their Lives

Far from the west coast of Maui, Daniel Sullivan and his 15-year-old son Tristan were in a two-person kayak enjoying some whale-watching off the west coast of Maui.
A shark took a bite out of the side of their kayak – which sank. What is a 45-year-old father to do? He had to solve some immediate problems and then swam a mile to shore. They explained their experiences in a news conference organized by the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Resource.
